Sonia has been a defining presence in my professional and personal leadership journey.
She hired me into my very first multinational role as a graduate, and years later, at a pivotal
moment in my life, she re‑entered my path with the same clarity and belief. When Sonia took on
the General Manager role at Sekap, she invited me to work with her as an external marketing
consultant, at a time when I was on my second maternity leave and returning from a
year‑long sabbatical.
Sonia saw potential before I could fully see it myself. She trusted me, empowered me, and gently
but firmly challenged my limits. Through her support, I rebuilt my confidence, reclaimed my
professional identity, and soon transitioned into a permanent role within the company. What
followed was a profound transformation: leading a strategic function through acquisition, taking on

My Mentor Sonia
I met her almost 20 years ago. I was that lucky!
A warm person full of determination. You could see that from the moment she was entering the room. Kind, always, with a smile and there available. Down to earth. Values, not for granted!
Even though we never worked together, she was the kind of leader you “look up to.” I had just implemented a promo plan for a new brand in the portfolio and she came to me to give credits. Remember, I was not in her team and the industry of FMCG is very competitive, even within. She had the ‘eye’ to the others, we were visible and humans.
Since then, I remember her words: ‘If you can do this with such a small budget, imagine what you can do next... well done and keep going.’
The next story is what happened within two weeks of intensive mentorship.
The procedure requires determination both ways, always takes two to tango. I was also in! Trust is one thing and cannot stand alone without ‘connection’. This is a value that Sonia earned by being wonderfully herself; open to see and ‘hear’ deeply the other side with a strong will to learn and, in so doing, to re-adjust her view.
Most importantly, she comes with no judgment. Fully supportive, focusing on the strengths, rather than ‘fixing.’ Hard working, she never left me during the whole procedure, either emotionally or practically whenever an opportunity was there. Preparation is key.
Guided me safely, and the value she brought is invaluable to me: I can finally see myself as I am. Visible to me. Proud of me.
Because no matter our errors, we still own our path and it is always worthy just the way it is. Pure us, pure authentic self. That’s what she did, connected with me, as the journey was all about acceptance of self. And Sonia drove me there safely. Connection within!
Sometimes change is as easy as it is difficult, it takes one moment, a decision. And she convinced me it’s sure worth the ride!

I feel incredibly lucky to have had Sonia in my life, not just as a manager, but as a true
mentor and someone who genuinely cares about the people she works with. We first met as
expats in the Netherlands, and from the start, what struck me most was her rare ability
to truly see people.
Sonia has an incredible eye for recognizing your strengths, even the ones you haven’t
yet discovered in yourself, and she supports you in growing them with so much care and

trust my own choices.
Even though we haven’t worked together for over 12 years, she is still the first
person I call when I’m at a crossroads. No matter how busy she is, she always makes
time, and somehow, every conversation brings clarity and calm. Sonia is not just a mentor,
she is someone who helps you grow as a whole person. Her impact stays with
you long after you’ve worked together, and I can wholeheartedly recommend her to
anyone looking for meaningful, human-centered guidance.
I had the privilege of being mentored by Sonia, and I can confidently say that her
